Outdoor Adventures on the Sunshine Coast

Winter on the Sunshine Coast is the ideal time to explore the great outdoors. From hikes, to bike tracks and coastal walks, there is an activity suitable for every fitness level. Not sure where to start? We have covered our favourite outdoor activities for you to enjoy during your next stay at Novotel Sunshine Coast Resort.

WALKING TRACKS

  1. Lagoon Walk – Easy Level
Novotel Sunshine Coast Resort is situated around a private lagoon. A tranquil and relaxing atmosphere with waterfront views, the lagoon walking track offers guests and visitors a 1.5km flat, paved walking circuit. A popular activity for sunrise or sunset, spotting native wildlife and gentle daily exercise.

  2. Mooloolaba to Alexandra Headland Coastal Walk – Level Moderate
A short 10 minute drive from the resort you can find the Mooloolaba to Alexandra Headland Coastal Walk. The scenic track winds alongside the beach, passing through the bustling cafes, restaurants and shopping precincts. Fire up your leg muscles over the Alex hill, where you will be treated to spectacular ocean views spanning the Sunshine Coast coastline.

  3. Noosa Heads to Alexandria Bay – Level Challenging
Iconic Noosa National Park is a ‘must-do’ for many visiting the Sunshine Coast. Spanning from Noosa Main Beach, past Tea Tree Bay up to the beautifully dramatic Hells Gate lookout and ending at Alexandria Bay, the walk will give you the chance to test your fitness level with steady inclines and non-concrete pathways. See how quickly you can complete the 4.2km round trip.

WATERFALL TRACKS
Due to the ‘off the beaten track’ nature of Sunshine Coast waterfall trails, we recommend a moderate level of fitness for exploring.

  1. Kondalilla Falls
Pack your camera and fuel up before for this incredible waterfall hike. The 4.7km circuit meanders through the Obi Obi Valley, passing through rock pools and dropping down 100 steps into the base of a spectacular waterfall. The Kondalilla Falls track is a 30 minute drive from the resort.

  2. Mount Ngungun
If you’ve ever been tempted by the picture-perfect images to visit the Glass House Mountains, then look no further than Mount Ngungun. With unobstructed 360-degree views of Mount Tibrogargan, Mount Coonowrin and Mount Beerwah, explore and admire the natural wonders on the 2.8km summit walk. We recommend experiencing this adventure at sunrise to see the glorious multi coloured skies.

CYCLING/ MOUTAIN BIKE RIDING

  1. Mudjimba Beach Ride
Starting from Novotel Sunshine Coast, hop on your bike and head north towards the quaint Mudjimba Esplanade. The flat pathway pasts by natural bush lands and coastal vegetation, before reaching the quirky and welcoming Mudjimba cafes. Looking to explore further? The pathway wraps north towards Marcoola where you can explore more beaches and cafes. Due to the flat topography of the land, this ride is suitable for all ages and experience levels.

  2. Ewen Maddock Dam MTB Trail
Have your kids developed an interest in mountain biking? Perhaps you enjoy the scenic views natural trails offer? The Ewen Maddock Dam MTB Trail is located just 30 minutes from the resort and is perfect for beginners and intermediate riders. With a children’s playground and ample parking locations, we recommend visiting for a family day out.

  3. Parklands Conservation Park MTB Trail
Are you looking for a thrill? Test your mountain biking skills with the 30km twisty single-track trails through dense forest areas at the Parklands Mountain Bike Trails. With 57 trails varying from green to black, Parklands is not for novice riders. Get your adrenaline pumping just 20 short minutes form Novotel Sunshine Coast Resort.
